Had another great day on the hill with the boys, although the plummeting temperatures meant nobody stood around too long taking in the views. It was absolutely baltic – minus 14 at mid-station and even colder up at Col des Gentianes. And it all looked a bit like this…

A very chilly day on the hill but great conditions and the cannons have been on non-stop which means Christmas will be comfortably skiing to resort and the lifties have told me that everything below Ruinettes should be  rolling by the weekend.

Meanwhile we went up and had a look at Mont Fort which has been heavily bombed by the patrollers – who obviously thought the whole thing was unstable so set off the biggest slide I’ve ever seen up there. The crown wall at the top must be several feet high.

Apart from that, we nipped into Cabane Mont Fort which was great as usual, although so cold the water was freezing in the glasses after about ten minutes. Rather nippy up there…

The two massive fractures up at Mont Fort (one beneath the lift station and where the piste normally is on skier’s left of the lift – you might need to squint a little):

Lunch at Cabane Mont Fort was slightly reminiscent of feeding time at the zoo, but the Bec des Rosses (behind) looked great…

Yet another great day on the hill – Felix did his very best training and spent the morning trying to hospitalize us by getting everyone to jump around with undone boots on one ski. It was like an orthopedic surgeons worst nightmare but we survived.

Meanwhile the toxic spillage jackets are still difficult to look at without sunglasses on and the piste conditions were absolutely perfect.

So here are a few shots of Felix waving his arms about and more evidence of the uniform colour explosion. Sorry for the low res images – we’ll use a proper camera tomorrow…

I might not be skiing but it’s not looking too bad up there…

We have just returned from Saas Fee. What a great time. Here are the first few photo’s from the iphone. Just gives you an idea of the weather and wind there. Was -15C this day with a wind speed of around 30kph. Not that nice..! More to follow… Toby

Well, we’ve nipped over to Saas Fee for a week of race training with Amanda and had a brilliant day. We’re skiing at about 3500m down to 2500m (equivalent of  about 150m  higher than Mont Fort down to Cabane Mont Fort if you know Verbier well) and the snow is really impressive – and so are the skis…

Tobes and I have got two pairs of rand spanking new Elan GS skis and all I can say is leave your home or office now, find a ski shop and buy a pair. The most fun you can have on the piste.

Meanwhile here are couple of shots of Tobes and Kent. Kent is the one grinning. Always…
