Had an amazing day on the hill – woke up to a fresh few inches of snow and headed up into the cloud (after the corporate guys managed to crawl out of their beds). And just as we were all getting used to skiing without knowing where the floor was it all disappeared and enjoyed some rather impressive pockets of wind blown snow on the itinerary routes.
What did it look like? Well, a bit like this at first…
Then a bit more like this….
Kenta had the day off on Monday so headed over to Nendaz with a few friends for a bit of a change. Naturally, everybody’s favourite grinning Swede took the chance to indulge in a quick photo opportunity with Karro and Maria. The camera loves him, you see…
Just been skiing with Jim and ticked off Chassoure-Tortin, Mont Fort, Gentiennes and Col des Mines. It was amazing and the views at the top were stunning… It’s a tough job.
The view from Atalas…
And the view from Mont Fort…
An unexpected blue sky day meant that Verbier’s most famous areas were all open and in great condition – including Mont Fort and Mont Gelé, where Karolina was up this morning and got these stunning shots…
Another big night in town last night as everyone went slightly bonkers welcoming in the new decade. As per usual Place Central was carnage, but four the first time in five years we didn’t head there, and watched the whole thing unfold from Jo and Gareth’s balcony. A great vantage point to see the thousands and thousands of fireworks going off across town.
Our favourite was definitely coming from somewhere above the Sport Centre. At the time we thought it looked like the display at the Millennium Wheel, but we could be wrong. Suffice to say we all went “Oooooh” and “Ahhhhh” a lot.
Anyway, Happy New Year from everyone here and you’ll be delighted to hear we’ve got snow coming Sunday night…
Having managed to wangle off not only Christmas Day but also Boxing Day, I managed to get some impressive lie-ins and also get up the hill a bit. Admittedly we pretty much only got as far as Chez Dany on Christmas Day, but on Boxing Day we actually did some skiing.
So here are the rather dramatic views from Combatzeline…
