It’s been raining all day and started trying to snow in town about an hour ago. It’s settling at the top of town (check the webcam) but refuses to let up. Theory is it carries on all night and tomorrow so should be doing the business up at Lac des Vaux… Hopefully by tomorrow we’ll have a lot more.

Finally something relevant to blog about. No need to just mock Kato and Jonas or discuss the merits of coffee on the T-Bar terrace, because we might be in for that much needed dose of snow to get Lac des Vaux rolling on time. A week on Saturday. Thoughts?
As promised, here are the pics from the weekend at Lac des Vaux. At times I was stepping into knee-deep snow drifts, but usually about 15-20 cm. A very good start, and if you don’t think it’s really been that cold, just click on the image to see the full gallery, including the frozen waterfall on the Col des Mines traverse…
Thought it would be a good idea to bike up to La Chaux today. It was horrendously cold, even when biking uphill. Coming back down was absolute torture. Got a few decent photos to whet the appetite though. I wonder if this means we’re in for another record season? N
Well, just been up the hill and it’s clearly been snowing a lot more up at Lac des Vaux than it has down here. Which is lucky because there was a rumour doing the rounds last night that TeleVerbier are thinking about opening up there at the end of this month… Yup, that’s the weekend of the 31st.
Naturally, it’s a rumour. But it’s a good one. And given it’s pretty cold and they’ve already had the cannons going, not impossible.
Anyway, when I got back into Verbier it’d been snowing hard but not settling on the wet ground until about half an hour ago.
But if you’re very good we’ll put up the pictures of the snow at Lac des Vaux on Monday. And it’s looking very, very good indeed…
Yup, snow-forecast say we’ll get snow this weekend and I for one don’t doubt them. OK, perhaps I just always want to believe anyone who tells me it’s going to snow. But that’s what they say…
We’ll also try to ignore the little rain cloud they appear to have accidentally put on Wednesday. And we’ll ignore the massive hoik in temperature while we’re at it.
