Yes, the sun’s out and i am the proud owner of a new clever phone that will enable us to get lots more pictures up here on the site.
Er, lucky you…
There’s a reason things have been quiet on the Verbier blog front. It’s because things have been quiet in Verbier full-stop. But now there are more humans in town and it’s all gearing up for summer season.
So The Powers That Be have decided it’s time to add some art. And they have clearly been watching Alice in Wonderland or listening to too much Velvet Underground, because this is what they’ve built.
Interesting eh?
I always say that no Mountain tourist destinantion is ever truly complete without a forty foot tulip.
Yes, the interesting evening that is the Performance team dinner was held last night. As usual, Toby got over enthusiastic and started arm wrestling the girls for cash. He was less amused when he was beaten. Twice. Well done Gina and Karro, and thanks everyone for a most amusing night…
Yup, it’s spring. And yes it’s not freezing. And snow falls are a distant memory. But does this mean we can’t go skiing? Hell no. Because spring skiing is arguably the best time of year – it’s too icy to bother getting up early, it’s great midday-ish, and by mid-afternoon we can all knock it on the head and get the lift down.
Beyond that, we all know (if you’ve done enough seasons) that just when you switch off and start wearing flip flops, then the weather turns and it throws down a few feet of snow. So let’s enjoy the sun and wait for winter to make a last minute cheeky appearance…
(PS is you read that there’s no snow in the Alpes, take it with a pinch of salt – yes, below 2000m it’s a bit iffy, and south facing resorts are in trouble, but nice high north facing resorts like, oh, I don’t know, Verbier, are holing up rather well).
Yup, we nipped down to see Kev and his Extreme Karts, and spent a couple of hours racing around the ice rink and trying to put Toby into the wall.
Now, we were expecting it to be good but it was absolutely brilliant. And even more so for those of us who won. The only thing that detracted from the afternoon was the necessity for hair nets, which didn’t seem quite manly enough to fit with the adrenaline and ego filled world of ice karting. But it’s hygenic so there you go…
Yes, your prayers have been answered – we’ve got snow and it’s looking like more than anyone was forecasting. So cross your fingers that it keeps going tomorrow… And, on that note, we’ll get a load more pictures for you and blog them in all their glory tomorrow too.
