Bianca Torstensson

How Bianca teachesMy favourite part of teaching is that moment when something suddenly clicks. After years of coaching gymnastics, I've learned to really watch the person in front of me, figure out what they need, and challenge them just enough to get there. And when they finally nail it, I'll probably be just as excited as they are.

I first came to Verbier with my family when I was six years old, and I've been coming back almost every year since. Somewhere along the way, I started dreaming about one day working here as a ski instructor – so being here now feels pretty special.

I grew up as a competitive gymnast and later became a gymnastics coach, so sport and helping people develop have always been a big part of my life. I love that moment when someone achieves something they didn't think they could do – sharing their excitement never gets old.

In summer, you'll find me on the west coast of Sweden, where I live next to what I'd argue is Sweden's best beach – basically the Swedish Bahamas, just with slightly colder water. I love being active, outdoors and around people.

I'm used to having a microphone in my hand. I work as an announcer at international gymnastics competitions, sometimes in front of thousands of people – and somehow manage to get thousands of gymnasts to do exactly what I tell them to. So getting a ski group to follow me down the mountain should hopefully be manageable.
